“Intersections”

“Intersections” is a collaborative community public art project
for the cSPACE Playspace created by Calgary visual artist Billie Rae Busby,
children (ages 3-6) from the Maria Montessori Education Centre located in cSPACE
and the neighbouring senior residents at The Edward Curated Retirement Living.
In the Fall of 2021, the young students and seniors each had a short group art session
led by Billie Rae Busby, discussing landscape and how we view our surroundings.
The centre banners are reproductions of several of Billie Rae Busby’s hard-edge
abstract landscape paintings created over the last decade and a half.
The adjacent artworks are the original paintings created by the children and seniors
during the brief, creative art session. The curated groupings of the banners
complement each other with elements such as colour, shape or composition.
Together, “Intersections” represents connection, wonder, imagination and courage in creativity.
